Your bike looks really cool. Is that a blue tire on the back? I've only straddled a couple of Felts, without going for an actual ride unfortunately, but could tell they are definitely nice and light. Congrats on the new ride! Enjoy.

Thanks, Joe. I've been having a blast with it.

mikethebike: Yes, the rear tire has blue sides to it. I have a front one like it too. Bontrager and a few other tire companies have these colored tires. It's just for looks, but they are good, fast tires too. Can you believe they actually make some it WHITE! Speaking of Felts, I saw some higher priced ones at the LBS today. They were really nice, but this one will do well for me for quite some time, I'm sure. Thanks for the reply!

Just keep in mind that the coloured rubber compounds are not as good as the black ones (there is a warning, at least on the Schwalbe homepage and I believe on Continental's site, too). Still: If you don't race they sure do look nice! I was thinking about getting those, too...

Joe, I thought I had heard about the colored compounds not gripping as well, but I appreciate you directing me to where I can find out more. I don't race in the traditional sense, and certainly not anything resembling a criterium where a tire like this might prove to be unsafe. I have had them around some tight corners and they didn't let me down (no pun intended)., but then the surfaces were always clean and dry. I'm assuming that they might not do well in wetter conditions. When I first saw these colored tires I thought they were a bit extravagant, but as you say they do look nice. And for the same given models, the colored versions don't cost anymore than their black counterparts. So why not, hey?! Big Grin

Thanks, Bill. She's only as fast as these 52-year old legs can move her. Wink I have to confess to putting a compact crank on last week. I have no need for a 53x11 as my top gear!

Your welcome. Age in my belief has absolutely nothing to do with one's own conception of fun and enjoyment, we are always young and refuse to get older Big Grin (in my late 30's). The crank make a difference for you?
