Shimano Freewheel Noise in Middle Gogs

I have a 7 speed bike (Downtube NOVA) with Shimano MF-TZ07 7 Speed Freewheel, 14/28.

No front derailleur.

It shifts great both up and down the cogs... however when running in the middle gearing (4 or 5th cogs) I here a rubbing noise. I tried adjusting the cable tension via the barrel but no help.

Any ideas why noise in middle gears?

Shimano Freewheel Noise is now moved to Bottom Bracket....sorry for the miss-information...I'm now trouble shooting after adjusting the rear derailleur. Again sorry for the miss-information the Shimano MG-TZ07 is now working great. Mike

First check and see if your chain needs cleaned. If it does then do so. Next I would check for chain/sprocket wear. Links on how to do this are at the top of the page. Something else you may want to do is look and listen to the crank sprocket, from looking at an online picture I noticed some sort of riser that goes above the chain from the crank's sprocket. If that is not it try to pinpoint the noise by holding it up and slowly pedaling. Listen to the derailler and the brake pads.
