Tiagra Shift Lever Stuck
#1
Bianchi Volpe, stock Tiagra shifters.

I replaced the rear brake cable the other day. Next morning I ride and the upshift lever is stuck to the brake lever, and the only way I can get it to shift is to pull the brake lever out and hold it while pushing the shift lever in with my other finger.

Am I correct that there is a spring mechanism that distracts the brake lever out? And that is is failing and catching on the shift lever? (There seems to be more play in it than the left lever mechanism)

I guess I buggered it when pushing both levers in to change the cable.

What to do?

Thanks all.

Have you got the nipple into the lever properly.
The nipple has to sink into the recess completely.
The normal way to fit the brake cable is to move the gear lever over to the inside (as if changing gear) and this will allow the brake lever to open more. Gives more access for fitting the new cable.

I have had a couple of nipples that were slightly too big so I ground them down to fit. (not Shimano cables.)
Ride hard or ride home alone!
