Rear derailler problems
Okay, I've watched numerous videos on how to adjust the rear DER. The problem I'm having is switching from the lowest gear to the next gear. It jumps a gear to the third smaller sprocket. It shifts fine thorough all the other gears. I've adjusted the cable, also the high and low gear screws on the DER. Is my DER bent? I've also tried to adjust it with the other lone screw on the DER. This is a new 29er niner bike that was "built" for me at a bike shop that is a few hours away. I just thought if I could fix it myself it would be great! Anybody have any ideas?

Look for a stiff link. Also make sure the "third" gear is not bent

Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

When you say "built", do you mean to your spec, or an off the shelf bike assembled by them?
If the former, did you check compatibility of the transmission parts?
did they agree your spec?
Why not give them a ring if its too far to travel, the mech who assembled the bike should be able to help you.

RE: Rear derailler problems
I've got a similar problem too. Unfortunately when I had my LBS replace a set of tires, it came back to me with derailer/cog problems. I can always take it back but it's not so convenient for me plus I figure I should be able to do this myself. My problem is gear 1-6, 2-6, or 3-6 in a triple crankset. That is, the second to smallest cog in the set is being skipped. I have no other problem with any of the other gears/cogs in either direction until I get to this one. Because it is an interior cog and not the smallest, this may or may not be the same thing.
