Wheel sizing

I ride mostly bike paths but was wondering if going to a smaller width tire from a 2 inch will make much of a difference in rolling resistance and pedaling effort. Trails are 90 percent hard packed.

Width is part of rolling resistance, and tread is a bigger difference.

I posted this on another thread:
Quote:I have Bell brand tires on my hybrid, works well in dirt and on pavement. The key features are continuous rubber in the center for quiet efficient riding on pavement, and some knobs out towards the sidewalls. I do not know if they are avaiable in the UK.

These Continentals should be, and are a much nicer tire than the Bells I have:

These Kendas also fit the bill:

Width is part of rolling resistance, and tread is a bigger difference.

Bill, those look good too. Smile

I figured what I had, plus two more examples were more than sufficient to express the idea; so I picked the first Conti and first Kenda I found on Amazon that had pics that matched what I want to say.
