Cassette out of order
#1
hi,
I am facing problem with my bicycle rear cassette while last day i went for cycling in mountains. when i was climbing a slope, all of a sudden some breaking sound came from rear gears and then i realized that i am moving my paddles but the wheel is not moving, which means that the cassette is not having a grip on the hub. the gears are totally free in forward and backward direction. and so the bike is out of order.

Can u please suggest what should i do to make my bicycle road worthy.

I shall be very much thankful for ur kind help.
Best Regards
Lucky Ali

If you can turn the pedals and the rear gears rotate without turning the wheel, then either the freewheel or freehub (cassette) has failed.

This will help you figure out if you have a freewheel or freehub/cassette: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/free-k7.html
