Question about axles
#1
so i bought a 2010 hardrock sport disc 29er from specialized awhile back. here's the link...

http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?sid=10Hardrock

so i took everything off and stripped the paint so its just bare aluminum, looks sick.

but i stripped an axle putting it back together. now where can i find a new quick release axle, online preferably. aftermarket is fine. i dont know what the length is. or what i need. help!

Sorry to hear your bike looks sick.

Prolly 130mm, since you got to take it out anyway take the hub apart and measure. You sure its the axle you need not the QR skewer?

see thats why im on this site, whats the difference? the link you sent is what i need. i just dont know what size i need...so skewers are the quick release rods....whats the axle then? the hollow part in the hub?

the link you sent is exactly what i need, just not sure on the length, how i tell, if it matters.....thanks

Suggest you check this site to learn more about bicycles. Ye do some research.

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/

As per skewers 1. you have the stripped one which you over tightened or cross threaded. Measure it. Be gentle on tightening it. Sheldon's site has that info takes a bit to navigate.

2. If you look at the features tab on the link I sent it will tell you they are good for mountain bikes or can be cut down for road bikes.

Yes the axle is the hollow (some are solid) part that holds the cones and bearings, on which the hub rotates
