Spacers on threaded fork + where to put the washer?
#1
Hi,

I know it may be a stupid question but is better to ask than making a mistake.

I'm having a hard time finding cheap, inexpensive headset spacers for a fork with a threaded steering tube. I found an online store that sell a bag of 5 10mm threadless spacers for $10. So, Can I use threadless spacers with a threaded fork?

By the way if you know of any site that sells spacers cheaper than that please let me know.

Also I will have to stack 3 of those spacers, where do I have to put the keyed washer on top of them or below them.

Is there any problem with that setup?

Thanks!

Yes you can use threadless spacers on the threaded fork providing the spacers are the same size inside diameter as the threaded fork outside diameter. Some pics would assist as to the question of placement.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Yep they are both 1-1/8. I was trying to avoid having to cut the tube but I don't know if it is too long. The quill stem is already all the way down. But I like to use it very high anyways.

By the way as there is a minimum insert for the quill stem, Is there a maximum insert?

There's no maximum insert for quill stems.

A stack of threadless spacers will be fine.

I'd put the keyed washed at the bottom of the stack.
