27 x 1 wheels and tires
#1
I have an old '83 Miyata and the wheels are bent beyond repair. The size (27 x 1 in.) is very hard to find and I would prefer not to convert to 700c. I was hoping someone would know where these were available. Both front and rear are needed.

plenty to choose from on ebay, decide what you want to spend and type nos 27 in. rims, if you want pre-built type in nos 27 in. wheels

27" wheels and tires are pretty widely available online. 1-1/8 and 1 1/4 are definitely available. Is it specifically the 1" width your having trouble finding? Going up to 1 1/8 won't necesasrily be slower than a 1" if you can find a decent quality tire.

There also a LOT of choices on Amazon.

What is your budget? 32H or 36H? are you going to build your own?

Here is narrow ISO630 rim: http://www.amazon.com/Rim-Alloy-Sun-M13-Pol/dp/B004E3P0FE/

The LP18 and CR18 are 5mm wider (18mm on the inside).

Why don't you want to change to ISO622 (aka 700c) - it will open up more choices.

I have two Araya rims that I would be happy to sell you, they are about 15mm across the inside, one is 36H and the other is 40H. They were on my World Tourist for awhile.

Do you want to stay with 27" wheels? You could could convert to 700C with no problems as long as your brakes have the reach. I would price both and go with the best quality at the best price. BTW 700C has more tire width options. Good luck.
