Quick Release clip not closing

Hi
I am putting a new tyre onto my bike and the quick release clip fails to close when I put it on. It goes all tight. What are the reasons for this and what might the possible remedies be?

Peter, it's pretty hard to understand what you mean from your description. Since there is a safety issue with putting on the wheel properly, you might want to go by a bike shop and ask them to show you. It should take just a minute to see. But's it's a little tricky to describe.
