Rear derailleur and chain issues
#1
Hello,

Yesterday I installed a shimano chain, duraace rear derailleur, and a 10 speed cassette. The problem I am having is that the chain slips on the tension pulley of the derailleur and won't shift onto the highest cogs on the cassette. The slipping on the tension pulley is in the lower cogs. The middle gears are fine. What could be the problem with the setup?

The chain cannot "slip" on the tension pulley, and only contacts it AFTER leaving the cogs. The tension pulley would normally be considered the lower pulley (vs. the top guide pulley) and would have absolutely no effect on shifting in any case.

Make sure you have followed the correct procedures for installation, lubrication and adjustment of all components, including the cable/housing and shifter, and have a Dura-Ace compatible shifter. One cannot depend on videos alone. I would recommend you Google "install (deraiileur/cassette/chain) and look primarily at the links for sheldonbrown.com or parktool.com. Best would be in-person help - a knowledgeable friend, bike co--op or shop.

a few more questions:
* did you check the hanger alignment?
* is the chain the correct length?
* is the B-screw properly adjusted?
