Changing cassette fail
#1
Hi all. 1st time post. I am unablr to remove the cassette from my rear tyre. I followed the easy tutorial on bikeradar but havent managed to get any success.

See link to pics of my cassette and the lockring i bought. http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/Nexus62/library/Mobile%20Uploads

I think i know where i went wrong. The lockring i purchased didnt fit properly, so i just used a spanner to remove the bolt. Now all that is left on the wheel is the old cassette..

Help pls!

Sorry if this is a complete durrbrain question but videos online are not helping so far.

First off, you have a freewheel, not a cassette. Your tool is for a cassette. You need not remove the axle to remove the freewheel, only the nuts that hold the wheel to the frame. unless you were planning on cleaning and greasing the bearings. you need to buy a 12 prong freewheel removal tool.Them simply crack it off by spinning in a vice or a cresent wrench

This is the tool I like to use

Also there are no lock rings on freewheels and did not see the lockring in your pics of the one you bought
