Hyper havoc issues
We just bought a hyper havoc within the last 2 months and have only ridden it a handful of times. My issue is the other night as we were riding along the chain snapped off. Looked like it broke? We just started riding again recently so we're not familiar with these new bikes at all. Do I need to buy a new chain or can this one be fixed? I snapped it back together but I just don't know if it'll last or what. Lol I apologize for my ignorance about anything mechanical lol.

RE: Hyper havoc issues
Snapped it back together sounds like a quick disconnect came apart which it shouldn't do unless worn or not seated ("clicked" together)
Post a picture of the link in question. If the link didn't look different from the others it's not a quick disconnect. Here are some pics of one type of QR link.

RE: Hyper havoc issues
OK, there's a lack of detail in the pic. I don't see elongation in the link like a quality QR. It's a fairly inexpensive bike, so I wouldn't expect a QR link anyway.
By the way, did you mark it yellow?
I would not trust the chain;
1) Replace the chain with a Walmart chain (Bell brand $10ish). The QR link is a little funky but OK.
2) Replace the chain with a better chain with a better QR link, $15-$20ish. The new chain should be the same length or maybe a link longer. (This is an involved topic). An 8 speed chain is OK. Here's another, a Z51. Here's a good deal.
3) Replace the link with a QR link. This is iffy because I'm not confident in the chain.
4) Go have a local bike shop replace the chain. You'll probably end up with a chain with no QR link. This will cost more because of a minimal labor fee, but you wont have to buy a chain tool or fuss with shortening a new chain in ideas 1) & 2).
If the chain comes apart at the wrong moment it can be painful. I just looked online & walmart has changed to a different brand. You need a 3/32" chain, not an 1/8" wide by the way.
