I have been using carb cleaner, yes or no?

Carburetor cleaner should work find to clean the chain... just be sure to apply some chain oil afterwards.

G'day

Another option and maybe more environmentally friendly is a citrus based degreaser. I personally use a citrus based degreaser and a Park Tools chain cleaner. The combo works okay for me and I feel a bit better about the environment Smile

Thanks Andrew... great idea. It's always good to consider the environmental impact of these solutions, and if you have to use chemical-based cleaners, always make sure to dispose of them properly.
