Stuck In Biggest Cog Front And Biggest Cog Back
#1
Hello,

As per my title thread you can tell i am a complete novice when it comes to bikes, anyways my gears / chain are stuck on the biggest front and biggest back and wont do anything no matter what gears i shift too.

How can i get them working again?

Regards
Sorry further more to that my gear cables are still stiff and haven't snapped or anything, i just think my chain is at its maximum size and i dunno how to make it shift.

Regards

From the looks at the rear derailler it can be a couple things. It really does look like it is not aligned properly. There are a few things I would suggest but I am going to let one of the more experienced guys take on this one.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

The chain is to short! You will have to add a couple of links.

See Alex's video:-
http://bikeride.com/calculate-chain-length/

Initially move the back wheel forward as far as it will safely go to get you away. (Or move the wheel back and don't use the big ring.)
But then add the chain links as soon as possible and move wheel back.
Ride hard or ride home alone!

And don't use this gear combination! One should never use the extreme combinations (small - small or large - large) as it is not nice for the chain to run diagonally: at the points where it leaves the chain ring and the sprockets it is bent quite sharply.
