Threaded down-tube cable housing guide
Hello, I am installing shifter cable housing, and am noticing that the guide and the downtube is threaded, and the ferrule on my housing does not fit neatly into it the guide. I sent an email to the manufacturers of my frame, and they responded with a photo (attached!) of another piece that looks as if it screws into this guide, and then the ferrule is placed into this piece. Anyone know the name of this (very small) piece?
Thanks!

So I've found out that this is called a rear derailleur adjusting barrel, and have been told that there may also be something similar needed for the brake cables. So maybe my question can be changed to general information on that?

Those look like Ritchey:-
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Ritchey-Ritchey-Cable-Tension-Barrel-Adjusters-15729.htm

There is also Shimano:-
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Ritchey-Ritchey-Cable-Tension-Barrel-Adjusters-15729.htm
but not sure if these suit your frame?

And others:-

If you Google a search and/or try your LBS.

Brake calipers usually come with adjusters already on so you shouldn't have a problem there.

- Thanks for the help! I got the Ultegra 6700 STI 2x10, but they did not come with the adjuster. I think my main problem has been I was making a cyclo-cross bike, and then decided that I wanted to go a little faster, so I made the switch to a road bike. What I did not switch was the frame (I like the color scheme too much), so I have been having issues with part compatibility. Ie ultegra caliper brakes do not work on this frame, as it is set up for cantilever/V-brakes.

Have you decided on what type of brakes you are using.
There are reported problems that STI don't pull enough cable to operate V brakes?
I would do some research first to clarify any issues.

There are inline cable adjusters and some are shown on Sheldon Browns site:-
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/cable-hardware-brake.html

There are also other things shown which may be of use?

P.S. Yes nice looking frame.

I'm going to try Shimano BR-R550 Cantilever Front & Rear Brakes. They say they are compatible with STI levers, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just got them today, so will be installing them sometime tomorrow.

They should be ok. I have a cyclo-cross friend that runs the same setup with no issues. Hope the same can be said for you.

(edit) Hey cyclerUK! Why do you keep posting co.uk links?!Big Grin

Hi JR, I know your question is only in jest! but-

Alex's website is so good that a lot of people from across the "world" come on here. So a lot of the time you don't know which country they come from.

If I can guess they are from, say the States, then I will try and post an appropriate States link. But most of time it doesn't really matter as most links are just to show what a component looks like.

And, as I live in the UK, (how did you guess?) I know where to find most of what I'm looking for to illustrate.
If there is a component that someone wants then I would expect them to go their LBS or search their own neck of the woods.

Not only that but .co.uk are the best ???
