BMX small sprockets?
#1
Well I am getting into helping my son build a Ramping bike. Got the frame lol good start! Now To start what is the term used for the smaller chainrings that let the bike clear on the half-pipe? Also please leave a link to one. Looking for one that will fit the common one piece crank.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Hi Bill. Up front? It's just a chainring (BMXers may call it a sprocket) with a lower tooth count. Was that any help?

Yes that did very much. Is it like this... http://www.amazon.com/Stolen-Class-Ring-Bike-Sprocket/dp/B003WUN4M6/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1286072709&sr=8-3-fkmr2

If you are running a 25t front, to give a reasonable gear ratio you will need something like 9, 10 or 11t rear and a half-link chain. This means a cassette wheel, most of these have 14mm axles, check that your frame will accept this size.
If you browse this site, you will find most of what you need, although it's a UK trade site, the prices are SRRP £.

No problem, if your son's getting serious into bmxing you may want to get a better bike? i've severely bent and distorted single piece cranks,if hes really serious get him a nice bike and some primo hollow bite cranks they're awesome

He just wants something he can ,"tear up and not be worried about trashing a 1000.00 bike!". This is only a practice bike until he gets better, his choice and proud he feels that way Smile.
