Looking for a chainring guard for a triple.
#1
Hi, can anyone help me? I have been looking for a chain ring guard for a 1985 Sugino GT triple crank 46/36/26t. I want to keep all 3 chainrings. I have spent countless hours and days trying to find something.I have looked at the bush guards, they may have something there. I was reading a thread about someone else who was looking. That is one of the reasons that I signed up. I wanted to reply to that thread, but now I can not find it. I am trying to keep my pants and leg clean. My bike is a Panasonic ATB.

Plastic chainring guards are cheap and tacky, they offer no protection from slacks getting dirty as you hope. You see the wind blows different directions and your loose pants will still get caught in the rings if things are right, guard or not. You tuck and fold around your ankle, then with a made for strap or rubber band is the only way to be sure you will not suck your pant legs in the chain wheel.

search TEAMSSX on ebay.

I have them on several bikes; including three on our T50 tandem.

Thank you Nigel, I checked out that EBay seller. They look pretty good. But I don't see a 46 tooth. The smallest is a 50 T. Hopefully that might work.

I found this one on Amazon. The size is 46 to 48t. It looks like it does not come with any hardware. My outer chainring is 46t, I think this might be a better fit for my chainring. It looks just like the one from Teamssx on Ebay. What do you think? Here is the link. FSA 46-48T Alloy Cross Chainring Guard (110mm BCD)

The FSA one is really pricy; looks like the same as the Driveline part, but without the hardware that you will need. Except on the timing chain side of the tandem, I needed the new longer bolts and spacers.

Here is the same Driveline guard from a different seller, 48T, 110BCD with all the hardware:

On ebay search Driveline Guard 48T there are several different colors; also note that 48 is available in 4 bolt 104BCD and 5 bolt 110BCD.

I think that is the one! Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I have noticed that the chainring guard has several names. Back in my day the chainring was called a sprocket and the chainring guard was called chain guard. Lol. this is my 1st for real bike.
