Centurion Handlebar Uprising
#1
Greetings,
I purchased a 1986 Centurion Accordo road bike at a garage sale last summer for $10 and it had original equipment. I have since replaced the tires and pedals and would like to raise the handlebars that I have already raised to the limit marker on the stem. I would like to purchase a new longer adjustable stem, but after seeing all the different sizes listed on the bike parts web sites I am bewildered as to my needs. I realize it is an old obscure bike, but would anyone possible know what stem and handlebar size it has or how I can determine the sizes?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I gotten this far entering this post twice already, then attempted to include a photo, at which point I lost it all. I will look into the "Help" menu concerning posting photos and hope to have an image of the Accordo loaded before too long.

Thank You!

If you pull the handle bars all the way out; does it look something like this:

with the fork still firmly attached to the frame?

I am betting it does.

Now either measure the diameter of the hole, or the diameter of the tube that goes into the hole.

I expect that it will be 22.2mm - which is called 1" or 25.4 mm for some reason.....

Then you have lots of choices.

For my project bike; I used one of these:

and one of these:
